trip planner

First and foremost, be sure to register for the pilgrimage as early as possible. The number of pilgrims who can participate is limited. Register today!

Once you have confirmed your place in the pilgrimage, make a list of personal items that will ensure your comfort and safety on the walk. Sunblock, medication, special dietary items, rain gear, comfortable boots or shoes—items unique to your needs.

All meals for the trip will be provided, however, everyone has a favourite snack or comfort food that they should bring along.

Heavy gear such as tents and bulky knapsacks will be transported by supply vehicles. To ensure easy identification of your gear during transport, please try to post your name on your belongings.

Return transportation from Midland is provided, however, we encourage walkers to have family and friends awaiting them at the Shrine. A moment of celebration, triumph and self-satisfaction is always best when shared with those you love.

Some tips and suggested items to ensure your comfort and enjoyment on the trip. If you have questions, feel free to contact us!

 CLOTHING
  • Two pair of walking boots/shoes
  • Sandals
  • Socks
  • walking shorts/trousers/skirt
  • Tee shirts/tops
  • Underwear
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Swimming suits
  • Rain Gear - e.g. dollar store poncho etc.
  • Jacket/track suit for evening/nights

Note: We also suggest a few optional purchases that make good investments. Experienced walkers will tell you that it is worth investing in good walking or hiking shoes. Bringing two pairs of shoes that are “broken in” gives your feet a break, by being able to alternate pairs from one day to the next or from morning to afternoon. Good quality socks (e.g. Cool Max® or smart wool®) can also help reduce blistering. Also quick dry shirts will keep you cool and dry so quickly that they can be washed at night and worn the next day (keeping the amount of clothing required to a minimum).
