Community Shared Agriculture

Celebrating the sacred in food production, our CSA program brings locally grown food to the table of hundreds of families in our community. Nutritious food, farm fresh and free of synthetic chemicals.

Formerly known as Ontariobio, this organic farm co-operative supplies locally-raised organic products to Canadian consumers. Organic Meadow chose Ignatius Farm for product testing and research.

Land Saga Biogeographical

Pioneering phytoremediation of contaminated soils and groundwater in Canada, Land Saga also provides botanical surveys, ecological assessments and land reclamation services.

Ontario Beekeepers Assoc.

OBA is the provincial organization that represents the 3,000 beekeepers of Ontario. It is one of the oldest established farm organizations in Ontario.

Awards

Ignatius Jesuit Centre was recently honored with the 2007 Watershed Award from the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA). Recipients of the Watershed Award are honored for their work in protecting and enhancing the Grand River watershed. In recognition of its significant natural and cultural history, the Grand River was named a Canadian Heritage River in 1990. The Canadian Heritage River System is a national river conservation program that attempts to care for Canada’s special rivers.

As stewards of 243 hectares of farmland and forest that include significant wetlands and riparian zones, we have a responsibility to care for our land and waters in ways that nourish the life and water quality of the watershed. We developed an Environmental Farm Plan. We started to use organic farming practices, thereby eliminating the runoff of chemical fertilizers and pesticides into the waters. We relocated our fences so that there was a larger buffer strip to filter runoff from the fields. We planted thousands of trees throughout the property and along the waterways.
